In making your travel plans for next weekend, please consider attending one of the three primary Texas Bluebonnet Festivals. All indications are that they will be accompanied by full fields and roadsides of beautiful bluebonnets and other wildflowers.
The three main festivals that we know about are:
- Texas Hill Country: Burnet, Texas’s 34th Annual Bluebonnet Festival, April 7-9, 2017 (about 60 miles northwest of Austin). www.bluebonnetfestival.org
- Dallas area: Ennis, Texas’s Bluebonnet Trails Festival, April 7-9, 2017 (about 40 miles south of Dallas). http://www.bluebonnettrail.org or https://www.visitennis.org/bluebonnetfestival.htm
- Between Houston and Austin: Chappell Hill, Texas’s 53rd Annual Bluebonnet Festival, April 8-9, 2017 (about 10 miles east of Brenham) http://www.chappellhillmuseum.org/bluebonnet.html
In addition to our beautiful state flower, all three festivals provide LOTS of exciting activities for all ages – great food and drinks, music, arts and crafts vendors, and MUCH more. For all the details on the festival nearest you, please click on their website address, listed above.
